The power of prayer

My post on Prayer

Today I read about prayer in the Bible Dictionary. I love when it says, "As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are his children) then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part. ...Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant, but that are made conditional on our asking for them. ...We pray in Christ's name when our mind is the mind of Christ, and our wishes the wishes of Christ - when his words abide in us."
I have learned over the years that prayer is essential in working with the Lord to accomplish this earthly journey in a valiant manner. As I have struggled at times and had hard times I have had some wonderful discussions with my Heavenly Father about my feelings, my purpose, my plan and His plan for me. I am so grateful for the principle and the power of prayer. I know that when I pray, my relationship as a daughter of my Heavenly Father changes. It strengthens. I know that the more I converse with my Heavenly Father I become more aligned with Him. I learn of His will. I learn of my duty. I learn of my purpose. We become a team.
My scripture study plays a big part in how meaningful my prayers are. The deeper I am involved in my scriptures, the deeper I converse with the Lord.  Those are the times where I feel my wishes becoming the wishes Christ has for me. I word things differently. I am tutored by the Lord. I recognize weaknesses to change as I ask Him for help to do so.
The deeper my relationship gets with my Heavenly Father, my decisions and my daily actions change, too. Because I have a greater understanding of who I really am, I see my daily tasks differently. I see others differently. There is more meaning to everything and I enjoy serving others because I gradually learn who they really are.
I am grateful for prayer. I am grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who cares for us and is involved in the details of our lives. I am grateful for the power that comes from deep study of the word of God. It is soul changing. And my soul needs changing.
Aren't we so blessed?
I just want you all to know.
